372... Lamberts Cafe

If you ever find yourself  in Foley, Alabama near Gulf Shores Beach, make sure to eat at the famous Lamberts Cafe. It is well worth the wait which will most likely be from 1-3 hours. It is similar to a Cracker Barrel but with a fun and lively atmosphere. They are known for their huge portions, and of course their delicious rolls and passarounds.  The Greeneteam absolutely loved it.

This boy was one of the roll throwers. The kids thought catching the roll was fun!!
GIANT Rolls, warm and delicious. Jack wants to work at Lamberts one day.
This is the giant drink that each person gets. No refills were needed. Thank goodness we did not have a spill.

The service and food were really good.  There is no meal sharing, and they only accept cash or checks. I am so happy that we decided to wait. It is not your typical restaurant. The fun atmosphere makes it the perfect place for a family outing.  The children's meals for 10 and under were $5.99 and included the giant drink. Adult meals ranged in price from $10-$20. Super fun and so delicious.

369... Tea Time!!

Tea anyone?? Today my sister took the girls and I to tea at the Remember When Tea Room. It is such a beautiful little place located in Chesterland, Ohio.

The girls had fun trying to figure out the things that did not belong in the "OLD ROOM".. A visa machine, a speaker, an electric fan. It was fun to guess what did NOT belong.

The food was very good.  We ate quiche, salad, and tea sandwiches. Can I tell you a secret???  SHHH!!! We ordered hot chocolate instead of tea as none of us our tea drinkers. Is that bad?? Probably, but I am just keeping it real.. The ladies at the tea room did not seem shocked so it must be acceptable.

We loved getting dressed up. All of us had fun pretending to be fancy. We loved sitting at the decorative table, ordering fancy food, and holding our  pinkies in the air. I will definitely do this again with the girls. It would be a fun yearly tradition!!  Maybe next year we will take Grandma. I don't believe she has ever been to tea!!

Day 365... FUNOPOLIS FAMILY FUN CENTER!!

DAY 365!!
Our original plans today fell through. We were going to go to the top of Stone Mountain and try to watch Venus do it's transit. The weather was not cooperating so I needed to come up with a new plan for fun. I thought why not go to a place that has FUN in the title??
We started off rock wall climbing. The kids loved this and all desperately wanted to reach the top!!
Carson was the only one to reach the top and ring the bell. Way to go buddy!!

Day 363... Visit to a Historic Town..Madison

We visited the Historic town of Madison, GA  today.
The kids loved all the old  buildings and shops. The welcome center made up a small scavenger hunt of places for them to try to find as we were walking through the town. They loved using the maps and being the tour guides.
Alea one of the workers at Scoops Ice cream told us to come and check out this old cemetery. The kids were a little freaked out about it so we didn't stay long. It was neat to see markers dating back to the Revolutionary War. I could have stayed here a lot longer. Maybe next time!!
The girls have made me promise to put this great little town on a girls only bucket list for the future!!
We will definitely be back. It was a great day exploring this beautiful Historic City.

Day 359... Sawnee Mountain Preserve

Today we went to the Sawnee Mountain Preserve. I did not do my research on this before leaving and we were not prepared for the long hike that it took to get to the Indian Seats. The top pictures were as we started on our hike/journey. The first picture is a tree house that is just outside the visitor center.
When I say we were not prepared I mean we were not prepared. I had brought nothing to drink or eat and it ended up being 1.6 miles there and 1.6 miles back!! An older couple gave us a cold bottle of water about an hour into the walk. I am seriously grateful to those folks as I was feeling like the worst mom in America!!

Maddie and I made up stories of fairies along the way. There was a lot of moss and several holes and it just looked like a fairy utopia. Making up these stories was fun and it  helped the time go by. Once we got the bottle of water things got easier and the rest of the walk was good.
Victory!! I will say this was a long walk, one that I would compare to climbing Stone Mountain. We will absolutely go back as it is a beautiful view and great exercise. The next time we will have plenty of water and be wearing the proper shoes.

Day 358... Antique Stores

Do you ever drive by antique stores and think someday I am going to stop?? I do. I do it all the time. The fact is I am always in a hurry, not in the mood, not dressed right, something, so I just don't do it. Today we finally did!! I find it funny that the one we finally stopped at was named The Green Bean Exchange!!
This place is located off of Cumming Highway in Canton. It had great stuff, a really nice owner, and such a fun antique feel to it. There is a second location in Cumming just 9 miles away. We went to both and they were wonderful.

Everyone found things that looked like treasures.
So many neat things for your home, garden or self. The girls loved all the jewelry.
I would love to do this again, only the next time with a pocket full of money and an empty truck.

Day 354... Roller Skating and Velcro Wall.

78 SKATE!!
We have not roller skated at all for the past 12-18 months. It has been on our list and we just never seem to get around to it. Tonight we used a spectacular Groupon deal and headed out to a new rink in Loganville called 78 Skate.
It took the kids a good 45 minutes to get back into the swing of skating. I laughed so hard watching them. Crashing into walls, near misses, falls galore. It was quite the comedy show. They were trying so hard to look cool and they just weren't. How can you be when you are falling constantly?? Towards the end when they would fall I felt sympathy. These kids are going to be hurting puppies tomorrow morning. They have already cancelled the plans we had for fun. They want to stay home
and recoup. I can't say that I blame them.
Jackson on the Velcro Wall.. This was a first for the Greeneteam!!

Day 353...Liberty Farm Chicken Field Trip

This morning we headed out to a local farm that has just started offering chicken tours.

The Greeneteam at Liberty Farm in Buford.

Checking out the chickens!!

Maddie trying to catch a chicken!!

She had to move to the smaller coop to get one, but she ended up catching one of every color. She had the best time and wanted to know if they offered a season pass?

Day 337... Rock Sliding

Today we tried a new adventure rock sliding!!
Carson thought it was amazing!!
Kenna loved every minute of it!!
Dad even got in for a little fun!!
Our dare devil Ms. Maddie!!
Scenery is beautiful!! Tonight we were the only people in the park. Felt like a private paradise!!
BEST DAY OF FUN EVER!!
The scenery driving there was beautiful too!!

Hurricane Shoals Park-Maysville, GA

We loved it here and had a fantastic time. Would we recommend it and will we go back?? Absolutely!!

WARNING:
The rocks are slippery and there is a current especially in the middle pool. I was very nervous that the kids were going to get hurt. Not sure if any type of shoes might help?? I would also wear an old suit or possibly cut offs. I am wondering if you could take something to slide on?? I would also recommend going with another adult.  This is not an adventure with four kids that I would have wanted to tackle alone.

Day 326... Big Trees Forest Preserve

I have wanted to go to this Big Trees Forest Preserve for a couple of months. When I realized it was Arbor Day it seemed the perfect day to make it happen. Sadly Makenna hurt her foot and was not able to join us.
Just inside the entry. Absolutely beautiful!!
Just the two of us!!
So pretty!!
Ms. Maddie in the creek!!
Such a peaceful and beautiful place!!
Loved the wood on this tree!!
This was a great outdoor adventure!!
When we got home we did some Arbor Day word Jumbles and Hidden searches.
Jack trying desperately to win.. He is so competitive.

If you have not been to this hidden gem in Sandy Springs we would highly recommend it. We can't wait to go back with the whole family. The next time we will plan to stay longer, take a picnic to tailgate, and make sure to have plenty of drinks.  Admission is free!! We will definitely go back!!
