Day 344... Jazzy Key Chains

Back in December my sister sent me some supplies to make key chains/fobs. Tonight we decided to make them all. We are hoping to sell them to raise money for Jasmine Brewster. She is a 4 year old little girl that is fighting cancer.
We ironed the ribbon on with stitch witchery.
The kids loved ironing and pushing the steam button.
HULK SMASH: Jackson attaching the metal to the ribbon.
Next we put on the ring.
Last we sprayed them with a fabric protector.
We decided to name them JAZZY KEY CHAINS in honor of Jasmine.

Love the way they turned out. Thank you Jill Thacker for teaching me to make them years ago at MOPS.

We only have these 13 to sell. 100% of the money will go towards helping Jasmine Brewster.
Let us know if you would like to purchase one. Just give me the number next to the key chain.
COST: $6 each + shipping.

Day 332...Cinco De Mayo placemats

Tonight we made Cinco De Mayo place mats. We are going to the mountains on Saturday for a party with friends, and thought it would be fun to bring these along for decorations!!
Carson got out the chips and salsa to snack on , and even put on some music while we were crafting.
Jack working on a mat.
Loved this one that Makenna made!!
Carson did this one with the chili peppers!!

This craft was super easy and fun to make. At first I thought we could draw things free handed. The kids weren't sure if my cactus shape was really a cactus. So, I decided to rethink the free hand thing. I typed in Cinco De Mayo images on Google. We then printed the images and used them for the other patterns. We glued the construction paper image on a larger piece of white paper, then used scraps to decorate the mats. Last we covered it all with clear contact paper. I think these will be a fun start to the Cinco De Mayo festivities on Saturday.

Inspiration for these placemats came from the sun catcher pinata craft at:

Day 313.... Tie Dye Fun!!

Tie Dying T-shirts has been on my list of fun things to do with the kids for the last few years. Today we finally did it. The kids had fun trying to design the way their t-shirts would come out. We bought a kit for $5 that was on clearance at Walmart. It had been $10. I thought for the money it was a great deal. It included the bottles, three dyes, rubber bands, gloves, and instruction kit. I have saved the bottles, instructions, and rubber bands so that we can do it again. We picked up t-shirts for $2.50 at Walgreens. Total for 4 shirts $15.
Kenna was the first to give it a go!! She had done this before at a birthday party.
We used plastic garbage bags to cover the table. I would suggest giving each kid their own as the die can get messy and screw up your design.
The end result.. Not bad for a first try. I think my favorites were Maddie and Jack. Kenna needed more color at the top and Carson's is good but he got some of the purple die on his in a few spots. Super fun!! We may try it again for the 4th of July!!

Day 308........ CD CRAFT

Tonight we used old CD's to make a craft.
The kids did this several years ago in VBS.
Maddie deciding what to make. Hmmmmm?????
Carson working on his CD...
Jack said "Mom I am under a lot of pressure with CRCT.. I just can't think of what to make." LOL!!
Jack and I  brainstormed and came up with this fun alien CD... Love my boy Jack.
My thoughts for making the CD craft... Put out lots of options and let everyone use their  imaginations.  Imagination Destination!!!
You never know what you might end up with.. In our case it was three fish, an alien, and two abstract art designs!!

It was fun to see what each of them put on their collages!!
Carson's was filled with animals, motorcycles, cars, RV's and fishing.
Kenna with her finished collage.
Yes even I made one to hang on the fridge!!
Maddie with her collage!!

Day 278... Hand print crafts!!

Tonight for fun we made hand print crafts. I know that my kids are getting to old to do this however, they are still not teenagers so I thought we would go for it. There are soooooo many cute ideas out there for hand print and foot print crafts. I have a folder on Pinterest just for them. I know crazy!!
Step 1: Choose a design and get the hand print on paper..
The kids love the hand painting part. It tickles!!!  We always use a hair dryer so you can move to the next step quickly. We hate waiting!!
Makenna putting the ears on her monkey!! The great part about having older kids is they can do the whole design themselves.
Jack blow drying his moose!!
Daddy worked with Maddie to make this crab!!

There are so many great hand print and foot print crafts to choose from.  Tonight we ended up with a monkey, moose, turtle, and crab. FUN!! We also made some hand prints for Easter. I will post the final Easter creations when we put up our Easter decorations in the next day or two.

Day 270... Window Painting

Tonight we took the coffee filters that we painted yesterday and cut them into flower tops. We then used paint to make stems, grass, and a sun on our glass sliding door. I love the way it turned out. Spring must just be around the corner.
Here is the site that I found this fun Spring Idea on

Day 269.... Painting Coffee Filters.

Tonight we painted coffee filters with water colors for a Spring art project we are going to be working on. I am ready to get rid of the winter decorations and welcome the warmer weather.
Maddie the artist.
We want our art to be bright. We dried them after a coat and then kept repainting. Most took 3 coats of paint.
Makenna still working on her art. Carson decided to entertain us while we finished.
Maddie and Daddy putting on the final touches.

We love painting together as a family. These have been some of our best family nights. Just relaxing and having fun!!  We will be using these dried coffee filters for another art project tomorrow or in the next few days.  Lots of fun!!

Day 255... Tape paintings

Tonight we attempted TAPE paintings. We used card stock. I thought if we used painters tape it would pull off and we would be ok. It worked on my test. Sadly the rate was 50%. We ended up with 3 out of 6 paintings.  The rest the tape stuck and ripped the card stock. The kids loved doing this craft so we will try it again. Maybe next time we will use a canvas. The kids loved the look and pulling the tape to see their results. FUN!!

We added the tape art to one of our ART WALLS.

Day 254 Oil/Water paintings

Tonight for fun we made oil/water/food coloring ART.
Makenna putting her cardstock on top of the mixture.
After about 30 seconds we pulled it up!!
John pouring the next round. This would have been better with an eye dropper. NEXT TIME.
Jack and Kenna mixing up another solution.
The end result.  We will try this again in the summer outside.
It is messy, oily  and turned out really neat once it dried.
