Day 6.... Painting Sun Catchers

Maddie working on her butterfly!

Carson's art!!

Makenna with her completed flower and unicorn.

John with his completed dolphin.

Sun Catchers are a fun, inexpensive, and easy craft to do with kids. I think John loved getting to paint as much as the kids did. Sun Catchers are available at craft stores and Walmart. Paint and brushes are sold separately.

We spent today Luau style partying with friends. To say the kids had fun is an understatement. Probably one of the best days of summer for all of them.

Day 3....Build a Sandcastle

Once a year we usually try to go to Sonic..today was the day as it is right near Fort Yargo in Winder. The kids loved the prize today cup buddies.
The Pinecone Sandcastle..lead designer Makenna, Sand mixer Carson, Water and moat helpers Jack and Maddie.

Today was "S" day according to the kids.. Sonsurf VBS, Sonic for lunch, Swimming and building a Sandcastle!! It was fun watching them work together at the beach.. Makenna was the lead designer, Carson the sand mixer, and Maddie and Jack brought the water in from the lake to make the perfect sandcastle mixture. At one point this little boy that had been playing in the water looked up and said "oh my gosh it's a sandcastle!" It was so cute. The kids got lots of oohs and ahh's and by the end we had kids lined up wanting to fill the moat and join in on the fun.

Day 2 APPETIZER DINNER

Greeneteam off to Kroger with their shopping list. Each was responsible for finding and buying the ingredients for their dish.

Ten minutes of shopping and the boys return with NOTHING in the basket.. "We couldn't find anything mom. It's not where you said." Gotta love them!!

My girls!! They found all of their groceries and had them separated by appetizer in each bucket. So proud of them.

Maddie making her french bread pizza appetizer!!

Makenna making her fruit and cheese kabobs!!

VOILA.. the finished product.. Ready for dinner!!

This was a fun project for the kids. They loved being able to shop in KROGER without mom. I sat in the front where the summer furniture is. I gave them 15 minutes and told them to do the best they could finding all their groceries.

They also loved being able to take credit for a dish. They shopped for the food, made it and then got to brag a little about what a great choice it was.

This is the first time we have ever done an appetizer dinner. I think it is a fun way to introduce new foods to them. We will definitely try it again with a whole new menu to choose from!
