Day 116... "BOOnilla" Shakes
Saw this cute idea on Pinterest for a fall treat!! Vanilla shakes served in a clear cup with a Ghost face!! To make the ghost face we used melted chocolate on the inside. We then put the cup in the freezer for a few minutes to harden the chocolate!! Pour in the shake, top with whip cream and enjoy!!

Day 114... CURSIVE SKELETONS
Tonight we started making our Halloween Decorations. I saw this idea on Pinterest for a cute cursive name skeleton. It was fun, but my kids had a hard time cutting in/out and around all the cursive lines. They just weren't sure what spots to leave alone and which to cut. We managed but it was a little tricky.
Step 1: Fold the piece of paper in half. Put the fold side on the bottom. Step 2: Write your name LARGE in cursive. Make sure your letters on the bottom touch the fold. Step 3: Cut around the cursive letters to form the inside of your skeleton. Step 4 cut out arms, head, and legs. Step 5: Glue onto black paper with the first letter of your name at the bottom. I would say age on this craft is 8 and up.
Always the comedian Jack said "NOTICE THE RESEMBLANCE MOM??" LOL!!

Day 112.... Scrabble Slam
Tonight we tried a new family game called SCRABBLE SLAM!! It held up to it's name as John SLAMMED us all with winning every single round. UGG!! It was fun to play, but I think we would all agree we like Scrabble better.
I may have the kids practice with the cards alone as kind of a word Solitaire. I think it would be great practice, educational, and fun!! Maybe after the kids and I have tweaked our skills we will attempt another round with Big Daddy!!
Ready to play the new game!!
Carson chose the 4 letter word SLAM to work off of!
Big Daddy so excited to have won a 2nd straight round!
The boys trying to sound out and change the word with the letters in their hand!
The Victor and Champion of the first Scrabble Slam competition!!

Day 111... Clay Creations
Today we worked with Model Magic Clay!! This stuff is so wonderful. It is not messy at all and so easy to work with. We had fun making creations. We need to let them dry for a few days and then we will be able to decorate and paint them.

Day 110: Honeybee Festival
Today we went to the Honeybee Festival at the Environmental Center. They do such a nice job hosting activities. They had crafts, vendors, face painting, story time, and taste testing. The kids especially loved the eating and crafts. Lots of fun. The festival was indoors which made it really nice. The kids loved being able to wander around and do their own thing. I loved that it was educational and that all the activities were included as part of the day. GHEC is a wonderful place. If you haven't been we highly recommend it.

Day 107... Leaf Hunt
A leaf hunt was today's fun. I saw a Martha Stewart post on drying leaves before you use them for a craft. It takes 1 to two weeks to dry them out. Who knew??
I have a great craft in mind for the fall and thought we better go on a hunt for the perfect leaves. We live close to an environmental center, it was an excellent place for tonight's fall adventure. The leaves are not at peak so we may have to head out another time or two before we have all the colors that we need.
When we came home with our fresh leaves we placed them inside our Child Craft Encyclopedias. We will leave them there for at least 10 days and then try to tackle a fall craft.
A fun night getting out on the trails looking for just the right leaf!!

Day 106... A Sneak Peak behind the Scenes Tour
We had so much fun tonight catching a behind the scenes tour of James and the Giant Peach at Brenau University in Gainesville. It brought back memories of being at a college lecture.
At first I thought it might be way over the kids head, but it wasn't. It was so informative. The director spoke and then introduced her team. It was neat to see where the inspiration for the costumes and set design came from. They even gave us a sneak peak at two of the costumes, Ms. Spider, and the Centipede. The costumes were very detailed and so colorful.
The best part came when they did a small scene from the play. They did just enough to make you desperately want to go see it. It runs from September 29th-October 8th. Now to just get tickets!!
Outside Bailey Hall and The Pearce Auditorium.
