Day 307...Easter Day

What is not to love about waking up on Easter morning to a table full of goodies? The Greeneteam had fun going through their baskets, travelling to Grandmas, eating, and getting to visit with family.  A fun Easter Day indeed!!

Day 305... Good Friday Cross Cake and Crosses!!

Today is Good Friday. We decided to stay home today and celebrate. We read from the Children's Bible about Jesus arriving in Jerusalem, The Last Supper, and Jesus's crucifixion. We talked after and answered questions that the kids had. We also did a little trivia to see if everyone remembered all the important details. It was a time for all of us to be so very thankful for the sacrifice Jesus made.
Maddie reading from the Children's Bible. Johns dad brought this to us on one of his visits. It was his families when John was growing up.
We decided to do a Cross craft. I had seen an idea on Pinterest using chalk and a pattern. Some chose that and others as you can see went an entirely different way.
Our crosses!!
We then decided to make a cross cake.
The kids love The Cake Boss. They were excited to get started.
Carson got a piping set for Christmas. This is the first real cake he has used it on. He was so psyched to finally get to use his tools.

Carson putting on the final touches.
Their Cross masterpiece

We used a chocolate box cake, and cream cheese frosting. We made a small cross pattern out of card stock. We gently placed it on the cake and used sprinkles around the edges. When we pulled the pattern off we had a small amount of icing and a tiny bit of cake come up. It was easy enough to fix with more icing. We colored some of the icing green to put around the edges. This was a very easy cake to make. The kids loved it, and I think were proud that they were doing something fun that was honoring to Jesus and the sacrifice he made so that we could be with him in Heaven.

Day 295 ... Peep Smores

Tonight was an epic FAIL on fun.

We started the evening heading to Skyzone to jump on the trampolines with the kids. On the way we were in an accident. To make matters worse it was with each other. I had driven one car, and John the other and he ended up hitting me. Crazy but  true. Thankfully we are all fine!! It was very scary and the kids were shook up but in the end we were happy to have all walked away in one piece!!

We headed home all in one car as the other was towed away. We decided to make a fun Easter treat that I had seen on Pinterest (Peep Smores)
This had to be fun right???

We had fun crunching the graham crackers!@!
It sure did look cute in the jar!!
A cute jar snack to give away as a hostess treat at Easter.
Dump it all into a bowl. Chop up the bunnies and then add  melted butter and vanilla. Press the mixture into a pan and bake.
Hmmm is this really going to be a yummy Easter Smores Bar, or will it be just a crumbly mess??
The result: A crumbly sweet mess. I hated to waste it so we took a small scoop and put it over some vanilla ice cream.
A new Ben and Jerry's flavor it was not.. OH well. You win some, you lose some. Today was definitely a LOSE for the Greeneteam!!

Day 280.... Decorating for Easter

I love holidays.. I especially love decorating for them and the traditional things that come along with the big day. Easter is just around the corner. I thought we had better get decorating.  I love Easter, I love Spring, I love knowing that warm weather is here to stay for a long, long while. Tonight for fun we decorated!!
These are Easter photos from the last 10 years. I love to look at them and see the kids with the Easter Bunny. I love seeing how much they have grown and change. It makes me smile just to see them on the shelf.  The kids are amazed every year when I pull them out. They can't believe how much different they look.
My men heading out to find the annual Easter Egg Tree!! When I was a kid this is something my mom did with us and I have continued the tradition. I hope one day my kids will too.
Maddie was so excited to be pulling out all the Easter goodies.
Kenna placed all the rabbits in my buckets!!

Kitchen before!!
Kitchen after!! We don't do anything fancy just fun and spring like!! I use the same things every year just in different spots.. Total cost for transformation.. ZERO dollars!!
My entry before!!
My entry after!!

We made these bunny prints on Saturday when we did the hand print crafts.. So cute.. I just love them!! Ideally I would love to frame all the little rabbits but right now the budget won't allow so I just matted them with some light blue construction paper.

Do you have any favorite Easter traditions or decorations?? I would love to hear about them.
