Shop Class was in order for FUN today. We decided to use an idea we found on Pinterest to update our school desks. As soon as I saw the idea below I loved it. I thought it would give each of the kids their own space in the school room.
We used white shelves that we already owned and then for under $40 were able to buy the desk tops and legs for FOUR desks. The kids can hardly wait to paint the desks and then organize their own area. I will have to post a follow up picture.
The kids helped John shop, pound nails, measure and drill. Maddie looked at me at one point and said " Don't worry mama I have had lots of practice at the Home Depot Workshop. I KNOW what I am doing." Cute!!
Our version at under $10 each space. Functional and affordable. Can't wait to see how the kids personalize and paint their areas. FUN!!

Our FUN mission began on June 7, 2011 and we finished it on June 5, 2012!! Our goal was to spend quality family time with our four kids known as the Greeneteam. We had a great time checking items off a year long bucket list and now we look forward to adding new things as we complete them. "Life is an adventure" and we are trying to enjoy every minute of it with our kids!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Day 54..Painting Fun!!
Today we had fun painting the upstairs landing and hallways a fabulous Jamaican Sea Blue. I had seen the post below on Pinterest and thought how fun to wake up to such wonderful colors every morning. The kids love helping when we paint and love the way it turned out. They think it feels like we are living somewhere new!! FUN!!
Ready to get to work!!
Rolling, Rolling, Rolling!!
This picture makes me smile. When Carson was little he would say "Just doing my job mom, Just doing my job" .. Today he was!!
Maddie's comment when she came upstairs to see it.. " Wow this looks Deliciously Beautiful!!"
Keep it up Mr. Jack!
LOVE These colors.! This was the inspiration for upstairs. Our color is very, very similar although I am not sure it shows it in my pictures. Photo via Marie Claire Maison.

Day 53... Apple Fun
The Greeneteam ready to dive into the messiest, most sugar laden, calorie loaded, tastiest dessert ever!!
Tonight we decided to play a new game the girls got over the summer, and to try a new recipe for dessert.
The game: Apples to Apples. The Dessert: Apple Nachos.
To say we had fun and laughed our heads off is putting it mildly. I am not sure we have ever laughed so hard as a family. Apples to Apples is a great game and I am sure it is going to be a family favorite for a very long time. LOVE IT!!
The Apple Nachos on the other hand while completely delicious were WRONG on so many levels. Calories, sugar content, messiness, you name it, they were to the extreme. I knew as we were putting them together how much trouble we were going to be in.. The pictures below tell the story. Would we do it again?? Not sure?? Will the kids ever forget it? I don't think so. FUN!!
Ready to play Apples to Apples!! Mama won both games tonight... Winner!! Winner!~!
Perfectly Healthy Apples transformed into a messy, tasty, gooey, fabulous concoction that was of course totally unhealthy!!
After a few apples Jack turned into Dr. Doofenshmiertz from Phineas And Ferb.
Makenna so excited about the apples and deliciousness she was about to eat!!
Giving me the thumbs up on the tastiness!
The end result. A Slap happy, giggly, goofy, sugar high child. OH MY!!

Day 52.... Ocean Mobile
Today we made an Ocean Mobile.. This is a continuation of our read aloud earlier this week. When the kids really love something I try to do a craft or two around it so that it reinforces the story. Yesterday we made sharks and they were all asking about the Dolphin project.. Here it is.. An ocean mobile. I printed pictures off of the internet and we tweaked them. The starfish we used sandpaper, the sea turtle we did in mosaics, and the dolphin we used glitter glue on. I think we will add fish and whales at some point. This was a fun project and very inexpensive. Everything we used we already had at home.
Maddie showing off the two dolphins she made Sun Dancer and Cookie from the book Dolphin Song.
Love how much concentration Jack is showing.
Kenna part way through doing mosaics on the sea turtles.
Glad our friend Olivia was able to join us for the evening. I think we will add a few more friends to complete the project.. a whale, or possibly a few fish??

Day 51.... Shark Fun
Day 51 we had some fun making a shark craft. I had seen this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be a fun summer craft. I decided to use it today as a follow up to our completion of the Dolphin Song novel.
I love that my kids never want to make theirs like an example. They always choose different colors and add features.. Eyebrows, jewelery, scars, lips etc. I like that they have fun and personalize their craft.
The only thing needed for this craft- construction paper, paper plate, glue, scissors and a little imagination!! This was a fun craft at very little cost!!
What a motley looking crew.. both the sharks and my team!!
Jacks was my favorite.. it looked the most like a shark and was just simple.
Makenna dolled her shark up with eye lashes, red lips, jewelry and a tongue.

Day 50... Summer Read Aloud
Our fun this evening on Day 50 was finishing our Summer Read Aloud. We read Dolphin Song by Lauren St. John. The kids have loved this book. (We started it just 2 nights ago) They brought blankets (islands) down to the parlor and have sat back and just soaked it in. Some of the team (Maddie) took it a little more serious and brought down dolphins and fish to swim in the sea near her island. So cute!! We loved this book and would recommend it for ages 7 and up. **Note it is the follow up book to The White Giraffe by Lauren St. John.

Day 49... Visit to the Harley Davidson Store
About once every other month we make a trip to check out a motorcycle store. The kids love it. They love trying on the helmets, jackets, sitting on the bikes and DREAMING of the day that they might own a bike. Tonight our fun was to the Harley Store in Buford. It is one of Carson's favorites.
The Team at the Harley Store!!
Someday Bear, someday!!
I don't think so Maddie!!
Not sure Jack..... I think you are more of a red sports car man!!
This one is one of my favorites of the kids. It was taken on our last trip to the Motorcycle store.

Day 48... Catching Lightning Bugs
Tonight we caught Lightning Bugs as our Summer fun activity. I bought clear plastic salt and pepper shakers at the Dollar Tree to use. They worked perfectly to hold the little guys. They could breathe and we could see them light up. The only thing missing were a few more bugs. We only caught three so had a few disappointed people including me. Oh well we will just have to try to catch more this week.
As a side note I saw an article last month in S.Living Magazine of a place to go in the Carolina's for a migration of Lightning Bugs. That would be really neat to do some year. Going to try to find the information. If I do I will post more about it.
The team ready to catch bugs!
Ms. Maddie so excited!
Our Winner of the night with 2 catches Mr. Jack.
Love that you can see Makenna's lightning bug!!

Day 47... Tractor Rides
Day 47 was Heaven for one member of the Greeneteam. Carson got to take Maddie on a tractor ride. He has loved tractors since he was little and has always wanted to be old enough to drive the tractor alone. Today was the day and he could not have been happier. Grandma also taught Jack and Kenna how to drive it alone. You can see in the photos that Carson was there to supervise everyones ride. Fun for all of them.
This picture is priceless. Love the excitement on Carson's face!!
Kenna was annoyed that her little brother felt the need to supervise!
Another favorite. Love how excited Carson looks as he is watching Jack drive the tractor alone.
Mr. Jack driving it alone.
