Day 336... FONDUE/AVENGERS NIGHT

Last night we kicked off our Avengers celebration watching the movie Captain America.
Steve Roger's is my favorite super hero.  There is just something about him that I love!!
I was trying to think of what we could pair with seeing the Avengers tonight that would be fun!! When I heard these lines in the movie I had my answer.

Howard Stark: Agent Carter, if we're not in too much of a hurry I thought we could stop off in Lucerne for a late night fondue.

[Peggy looks awkwardly at Steve]

Peggy CarterStark is the best civilian pilot I've ever seen. He's mad enough to brave this airspace, we're lucky to have him.

Steve Rogers: So are you two...? Do you...? Fondue?

Peggy Carter: Captain! We're ready for you. If you're not otherwise occupied.

[annoyed, she turns and walks ahead]

Steve Rogers: Agent Carter, wait.

Peggy Carter: Looks like finding a partner wasn't that hard after all.
Steve Rogers: Peggy, that's not what you thought it was.
Peggy Carter: I don't think anything, Captain. Not one thing. You always wanted to be soldier and now you are. Just like all the rest.
Steve Rogers: Well, what about you and Stark? How do I know you two haven't been...fonduing?
[she turns to look at him]
Peggy Carter: You still don't know a bloody thing about women!

Howard Stark: Fondue is just cheese and bread, my friend.

Steve Rogers: Really? I didn't think...

Howard Stark: Nor should you, pal. The moment you think you know what's goin' on in a woman's head, it's the moment your goose is well and truly cooked. Me, I concentrate on work. Which at the moment is about making sure you and your men do not get killed.

The kids have been dying all weekend to see this movie. We had to wait till Dad had a night off. It was sooooo worth the wait. Oh my!! We all loved it.
John fonduing!! He and I loved the cheese, but, the kids were not big fans!!
They couldn't wait for the Chocolate Fondue!
Ready for The next Avengers movie!!

Day 335... Nature Scavenger Hunt

Today we had a nature scavenger hunt at Lake Arrowhead.

The kids found a lot of them in ten minutes.. Pinecones, something furry, a smooth rock!!
Look Ms. Alana a root!!!
Jack found a wildflower!!
They all loved this great tunnel.
The boys comparing nature finds!!
Carson was not into the scavenger hunt, but had a good time looking at this furry friend that Jack H. spotted!!
Starting to get tired!!
Cammy got tired too!! Carson gave  him a ride!! So cute. It is times like these when I wish that I had started having kids earlier so that they would have had the chance to be a big brother or sister to a much younger sibling. They love having a 3 year old to help. We had a really good time today, and are thankful for great friends!!

Day 334... Cinco De Mayo Fun!!

Image Detail
Today we are packing the car and are off to the mountains for some Cinco De Mayo fun with friends. Mexican food, Sombrero cookies, Cinco Bingo, and a craft will be the fun of the day!!
We don't have internet in the mountains. I will add the pictures tomorrow!
Happy Cinco De Mayo!!
Decorating Maraca's!!

Table ready for festivities!! We made the placemats and Jack H. made the name tags. He was excited when they all matched the person's favorite color.
The boys before dinner shaking the maracas.. Can you say loud??
We had a Mexican Fiesta of chips, Ques O, Taquitos, and Quesadillas. Yum!!
I printed this fun version of CINCO/BINGO from the internet!! We used beans for our markers!!
Jack was our CINCO winner.
Jack H. Loved CINCO Bingo, and would have played more. We needed to move on to dessert and movies. Tiffany found this cute Sombrero cookie. They turned out great and were really delicious!!
We had lots of fun for our first ever CINCO DE MAYO party!! Might have to be a tradtion!!

Day 333... Sand fun!!

I love the beach. It is my happy place. Tonight I took the three of them to have a little fun. We were hoping to catch the shop open to rent a paddle boat, but no such luck. Our back up plan was burying the kids in sand.
Carson thought the sand tickled. He kept breathing really hard and his chest would break and look like the Incredible Hulk. Funny!!

Next it was Jacks turn!!  Kenna does a great job burying!!
Last I buried Makenna. Can I just say that looking at this picture makes me claustrophobic.
Better them than me!!
The Break out!!
Kenna got busy working on a sand castle!!
Love it, and I love an evening at the beach with my kids!!

Day 332...Cinco De Mayo placemats

Tonight we made Cinco De Mayo place mats. We are going to the mountains on Saturday for a party with friends, and thought it would be fun to bring these along for decorations!!
Carson got out the chips and salsa to snack on , and even put on some music while we were crafting.
Jack working on a mat.
Loved this one that Makenna made!!
Carson did this one with the chili peppers!!

This craft was super easy and fun to make. At first I thought we could draw things free handed. The kids weren't sure if my cactus shape was really a cactus. So, I decided to rethink the free hand thing. I typed in Cinco De Mayo images on Google. We then printed the images and used them for the other patterns. We glued the construction paper image on a larger piece of white paper, then used scraps to decorate the mats. Last we covered it all with clear contact paper. I think these will be a fun start to the Cinco De Mayo festivities on Saturday.

Inspiration for these placemats came from the sun catcher pinata craft at:

Day 331... Playing Hookie

We all played hookie from school today. It is Grandma's birthday and I wanted us to be able to celebrate with her before she headed home this afternoon. John brought home a fabulous salad from Cheesecake Factory, we grilled some pork, and made some potatoes for dinner. We then sang Happy Birthday to her and let her open her presents.
Happy 71st Mom!! We love you!!
P.S. the cake was Yummy!!

Day 330... Planting Day- How does our garden grow part 2!!

We have been waiting for MAY 1st  for our big planting day!!
It is lots of fun to shop for plants.
We are starting off small with a few tomato plants, rosemary, and basil.
Prepping our soil.
We are potting our Rosemary and Basil in pots.
Jack planting a few Sunflower seeds!! I am really hoping these come up.
We mixed big Sunflowers and smaller ones.
Maddie liked helping Grandma get the plants in the ground.
Tomato plants and sunflowers done. We saved a few more on the other fence line for Carson to do when he gets home from school.
Maddie wanted to buy a watering can but I saw this idea for a milk jug watering can.
Maddie was the first to water the garden. The watering can worked great other than her dropping it in the dirt. It was a little heavy for her. :) Next time I will fill it with less water.

Lots of hard work getting things planted. It will be fun to watch it grow.
