We used the basic PAAS Easter Egg Coloring kit.
Carson's first egg was of course blue.
Kenna made an orange one to start.

Day 305... Good Friday Cross Cake and Crosses!!

Today is Good Friday. We decided to stay home today and celebrate. We read from the Children's Bible about Jesus arriving in Jerusalem, The Last Supper, and Jesus's crucifixion. We talked after and answered questions that the kids had. We also did a little trivia to see if everyone remembered all the important details. It was a time for all of us to be so very thankful for the sacrifice Jesus made.
Maddie reading from the Children's Bible. Johns dad brought this to us on one of his visits. It was his families when John was growing up.
We decided to do a Cross craft. I had seen an idea on Pinterest using chalk and a pattern. Some chose that and others as you can see went an entirely different way.
Our crosses!!
We then decided to make a cross cake.
The kids love The Cake Boss. They were excited to get started.
Carson got a piping set for Christmas. This is the first real cake he has used it on. He was so psyched to finally get to use his tools.
Maddie working on putting the piping on.
Carson putting on the final touches.
Their Cross masterpiece

We used a chocolate box cake, and cream cheese frosting. We made a small cross pattern out of card stock. We gently placed it on the cake and used sprinkles around the edges. When we pulled the pattern off we had a small amount of icing and a tiny bit of cake come up. It was easy enough to fix with more icing. We colored some of the icing green to put around the edges. This was a very easy cake to make. The kids loved it, and I think were proud that they were doing something fun that was honoring to Jesus and the sacrifice he made so that we could be with him in Heaven.

Day 304... Festival of Flowers

Today we headed to the Festival of Flowers at the Biltmore Estate. We have been looking forward to this event since we bought our season passes last July. My pictures do not do the beauty of The Biltmore justice. It is an amazing estate that we have LOVED having a season pass to. I am telling myself that we will get another one next year so that we can enjoy the Fall, Christmas, and Spring again. It is amazing!! So grateful that my mom is alive and able to go with me. She enjoys gardening, and I truly believe that seeing the beauty that this estate has to offer is good for the soul.  I know it sure does speak to mine!!

Day 303.... The Varsity and Candy Shoppe

Today we headed to The Varsity in Dawsonville. It was a Varsity Jr. and we all agreed we love the one downtown much better.  We had another hour to kill so then headed to the outlet mall to window shop. While there we couldn't resist a trip to the candy shoppe. Let's just say the Greeneteam loved it. We bought a bag of Jelly Belly's to try. Both the Tropical fruit and Pineapple were favorites.

Day 302...Laser Show at Stone Mountain

Tonight we took my mom to the Stone Mountain Laser Show. She has never been before and I thought she would enjoy it. It was our first time seeing the new show.
Ready to get seats on the lawn.
We always pack a picnic and take drinks.  It is nice to get there a couple of hours before the show so that you can picnic and relax. We were running late so not quite as relaxing as I would have liked.
I always take bubbles for the kids to play with before the show.
The girls snuggled up under the picnic blanket. Grandma was the only smart one who brought a jacket.
The show was really nice. A fun annual thing to see every year.

Day 301... Strawberry Picking

I have been wanting to take the Greeneteam to pick strawberries for years.Today we finally did it!!

We went to Washington Farms in Loganville. Our gallon bucket was $10. The fields were beautiful and they seem to have  a great system for picking the berries.
Love this shot of my mom with Carson and Maddie. These two would have picked every berry in site had we let them.
Mom with the team. A beautiful day for strawberry picking.
The kids can't wait to go home and make some strawberry shortcake!!
